Reviewer Guidelines – Acta Innovations

Peer reviewers ensure the integrity, quality, and impact of the journal. Please follow the guidance below when evaluating submissions.

1. Role of the Reviewer

  • Provide objective, constructive, and timely evaluations.
  • Maintain confidentiality at all times.
  • Declare any conflicts of interest promptly.
  • Uphold the highest standards of publication ethics.

2. Review Process

  • Double-blind review: author and reviewer identities are concealed.
  • Standard review window: 2–3 weeks (extensions on request).
  • Each manuscript is evaluated by at least two expert reviewers.

3. Key Assessment Criteria

A. Relevance & Scope

  • Fits the journal’s aims (innovation, sustainability, applied impact)?
  • Addresses real-world problems or innovation outcomes?

B. Originality & Contribution

  • Novelty and advancement of knowledge.
  • Clear scientific, societal, environmental, or economic contributions.

C. Methodology

  • Appropriate design, rigor, and transparency.
  • Sound statistical analysis and reproducibility where applicable.

D. Results & Interpretation

  • Results are clear, coherent, and supported by data.
  • Limitations, uncertainty, and implications are discussed.

E. Structure & Clarity

  • Logical organization (Abstract, Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion, Conclusions).
  • Clear writing; figures/tables readable; English acceptable.

F. References

  • Up-to-date, relevant citations; correct attribution.

G. Ethics

  • Compliance with human/animal research ethics and approvals.
  • No plagiarism, duplicate publication, or data manipulation.

4. Review Report Structure

  1. Summary: One paragraph on aims, methods, and key findings.
  2. Major Comments: Substantive issues that affect validity or clarity.
  3. Minor Comments: Language, formatting, figure quality, small fixes.
  4. Recommendation: Accept / Minor Revisions / Major Revisions / Reject.

5. Tone & Constructive Feedback

  • Be professional and respectful; avoid personal remarks.
  • Prioritize actionable suggestions; justify critiques with reasons or references.

6. Confidentiality & Ethics

  • Do not share, cite, or use manuscript content without permission.
  • Alert the editor to potential ethical issues immediately.

7. Conflict of Interest

Please decline if:

  • You collaborated with the authors within the past 3 years.
  • You have financial or personal interests that could bias the review.
  • You cannot provide an impartial assessment.

8. Timeliness

  • Notify the editor promptly if you need more time.
  • Timely reviews support fair and efficient publication.

9. Reviewer Recognition

  • Annual acknowledgments (with consent) on the journal website.
  • Certificates of reviewing upon request.
  • Consideration for editorial board invitations.
